Welcome to the
Summit County Church of Christ
The Summit County Church of Christ is an independent
Church which is associated with the Churches of Christ, who
find their roots in following New Testament Christianity as
revealed in the Scriptures. It is our desire to build a strong
and vibrant local body of believers who have chosen to be
Christians and stand firmly upon the teachings found in the
Bible.
We are an autonomous congregation, having no
governance or structure outside the local congregation. We
see ourselves as part of the restoration movement in American
history that began in the late 1700’s. In the restoration
movement, men and women sought to be free from denominational
ties and hierarchy. Churches began to spring up that sought
to be self governed. Rather than label themselves as Baptists,
Catholic, Presbyterians, etc. they just called themselves
“Christians.” It is that spirit of non-denominational
Christianity that we want to continue.
The Summit County Church had its beginnings
in home bible studies that started in Frisco in the late 1970s.
The Church bought a lot in Bill’s Ranch at the edge
of Frisco, Colorado in 1980. Meeting in the Chamber of Commerce
Building in Frisco for a number of years we hired a full time
minister in 1982. The Church Building was completed in 1984.
Our attendance now averages 65 on Sunday mornings and swells
seasonally to as many as 150.
For I know the plans I have for
you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
